Jakarta : Food Tasting : Alto at Four Seasons

Have you tried this new establishment in town?

With many prestigious brands opening up in Jakarta, this city embracing a whole new level of 'Metropolitan' city in my opinion. With Four Seasons, a luxurious establishment, added to the list, it is an exciting times to see how this city could 'growing' up! Last November I was invited to their opening of Alto, an Italian restaurant led by Chef Marco Riva. So here we go !

Walked in Alto just makes you feels like traveling back in time ! The interior was very 'Gatsby' or 'Bond'-like, it makes you feel like you are in the 'Old-Hollywood' times. Alto was quite spacious with area of dining, bar and also semi-outdoor balcony with a view from 20th Floor! Sweet !

The dinner was started with Caprese Campana ( Burrata Cheese, Assorted Cherry Tomatoes, Balsamic Caviar ). I loveeeeee this dish !! The burrata is out-of-this-world good !! It's soft and creamy, and I love how the sprinkles of Himalayan Salt on top really gives a nice 'crunch' textures and hint of saltiness. The cherry tomatoes also tasted fresh and vibrant. A simple dish, but very well executed !

Next is Tortelli Al Fegato ( Foie Gras Ravioli, Parmiggiano Cream Sauce, Olive Powder ). Foie gras and Ravioli? How I can say no to both of my favorite things?? The pasta was not too thick ( which is perfect ), the sauce was definitely creamy. Even though mixing foie gras and the sauce could be a bit too heavy, but not for this one ! It's just perfect !

Next one I opted for Salmone al Limone ( Pan Fried Tasmanian Salmon , Caviar, Carrot Puree, Lemon Sauce ). I always preferred my salmon half-cooked, so I'm not too satisfied when the salmon a bit dry. The other component was okay, but this dish is considered as a 'safe' dish. It is good, but it's just okay.

And then dessert, Profumo Di Sicilia ( Lemon Mousse, Almond Sponge, Meringue, Candied Basil ). This dessert was a refreshing finish, since the tanginess of the Lemon really comes through. The candied basil was an interesting touch though ! The meringue also very soft and airy. Yum!

  2. The serving is really beautiful, but I can't spot thinking how pretentious it is. Those tiny pieces of food on a huge plate. Nah, I prefer a lots of food. Lots of tasty, and not so beautiful food. Maybe I couldn't post the photos of such food at review of Essayshark, but I will not be hungry.
